People say that marketing is getting harder, I believe it’s getting easier.
With each year that passes, we shed a little more of our shiny object syndrome and propensity for BS marketing tactics, and get closer to a place that supports more humanized marketing and authentic, genuine business practices.
Here are some of the marketing trends I’m predicting that we’ll see in 2025:
More Expertise. Less Information
Anyone can research a topic and put together information-based content.
They can’t match your experience. Content that is rooted in experience-based knowledge is how you set yourself apart. Storytelling marketing and sharing tangible examples is a great way to solidify that your content is based on first-hand knowledge and not just research.
Mastering The Art of Brevity
Just because platforms are rolling out longer content formats, does NOT mean you need to use every second or every slide.
Get your point across as efficiently as possible.
And with attention spans continuing to dwindle, this marketing trend will stay current for years to come.
Shifting Focus From You To Them
Shift your focus to your audience and customers instead of what’s in it for you.
What do they need? How can you improve their experience? How does this benefit them?
Selfish marketing rarely drives the long-term results that businesses are hoping for. Like any relationship, there needs to be given-and-take, and offerings that benefit both parties.
Say Goodbye To Going Viral
The more you strive for virility, the more elusive it becomes.
Vanity metrics don’t equal sales, nor does it mean the right people are engaging with your content. Let’s put it to bed. Instead focus on creating content that is meaningful, engaging and shareable. That is within your control – the algorithm is not.
This Buzzword Gets An Overhaul
You know when you interact with someone, and you get this feeling you just can’t put your finger on? When you’re not being authentic, people get thatfeeling.
Authenticity seemed to be the buzzword that replaced value (*rolls eyes*), but few people actually live and breathe it. Whether you’re in the fake-it-until-you-make-it camp or truly believe you can dupe people, your audience is smarter than you give them credit for. They pick up on your vibes and inconsistencies when you’re not being true. Drop the mask and just be who you are.
More Eggs. More Baskets
One channel. One post. One launch. One income stream. You get where I’m going with this…
Anytime you rely only on one thing, you’re setting yourself up to fail. In a competitive marketing landscape, you cannot expect that one thing is going drive all your traffic and sales. You need volume and diversity.
Just like in sports, the more shots you take, the higher your likelihood to score.
When your strategy is rooted in the fundamentals, it allow you to block out all the noise and craft a strategy that works for you and your business. You’d be amazed at what happens when you stop chasing trends and start focusing on the needle-moving tactics that support your goals.
